Transport Scotland has recently published figures giving an insight into the number of deaths and injuries that occurred on Scotland’s roads during 2016.

The lives of refuse workers are regularly being placed at risk by reckless drivers, according to the GMB union. 

The waste industry can be a hazardous sector to work in, with 5% of workers sustaining a non-fatal work-related injury every year, and a further 5% developing an illness they believe to be work-related.
